I am amazed at the comments written on this site. I have been a patient here for over 10 years and have always had great service and great health care here. I guess everyone has their own perception. I have all of my family that goes here and several co-workers and have never heard of anything negative being said about the practice. I do know the care i have received has always been wonderful and courteous. I would recommend this practice if you want personalized care.

Unable to get simple questions answered. I only recently stared going to Boxley Hill. Although I had read the few reviews that were nearly all negative, I decided to give it a try as my Fiance is also a patient. At first the staff was warm and caring. Sharon(the PA) was understanding, knowledgeable, and seemed genuinely concerned. My problem began when I had a bad reaction to medication I was prescribed. I had to make 2 calls for someone to finally speak to me, and all they could say was we will make an appointment for you. No one even seemed to care what was actually going on. All they wanted was for me to make an appointment days later. I had just been seen 4 days prior, and already had a follow up a week and a half later. I went for my follow up, was given a new prescription, and figured I would just let the former issues go. Once again I was told" If you have any questions, Do Not Hesitate to call us". Well, I had a few questions, so I called. Once again I was met with rude and uncooperative individuals. I asked a simple question, that once again they wanted me to make an appointment for. Then, I was lied to. They said that was all they could do since they could not locate my chart.(small office mind you). So I asked if someone could call me the next day with an answer. they pushed that I needed an appointment to discuss anything with the PA, also stating they would be closed the next day. Ultimately I told them I wanted my files copied and that we would pick them up. When I asked when they would be open again, low and behold it was the next day. UGH! I hate being lied to, and I hate dealing with rude people. I will not be back, nor will I ever recommend them!

Dr lucas is a very good doctor and comes across cold. My family has been seeing Dr Lucas for about 10 years. I also though he was a cold and unfeeling person until last year. I found out that his 16 year old daughter had been fighting cancer for years. He had been going back and forth to hospitals and giving his bone marrow for transplants for a good part of her life. She passed away about a year ago. Sometimes there are reasons people come across different than they really are. His medical skills are excellent!

Office Staff Extemely Rude and Ill Mannered. This office is not interested in "caring" for patients - they are money-hungry. The office staff is unusally rude and ill mannered.

Try a liitle kindness Dr. Lucas. I took my father there for his appt., Dr came into room did not introduce himself although he had never met me before. I just am perplexed why someone would become a Dr. if they do not have any compassion for people. Just try a liitle kindness it goes a long way! Im Glad that I have such a good caring physician, Dr Lucas would not be my choice to handle my medical care.

Short & Straight to the Point..... I've had my first visit to Dr. Lucas, and my first impression of him was "cold". Don't bother with small talk. I have a follow-up next week, and I'm not really looking forward to seeing him. I'm sure I'll request a change with my insurance company. He just doesn't seem like he cares how he comes off on a personal level. I understand you're busy, and see countless patients, but a first impression should at least matter to you with a new patient. I never saw one smile. I had a few concerns with my health that I wanted to relay to him, and I felt like I was an inconvenience almost. I will say that the front desk staff is a pleasure, they're very warm and friendly ladies. I went in Mid-afternoon and the wait was very short.

A caring doctor!. My first visit was on October 30, 2006. I found Dr. Lucas to be cordial but brief and to the point. He is not one for small talk, but that is hardly required in a doctor. He was caring and helpful to me and his staff was kind. Overall I found my first and second visit to be more than satisfactory and I certainly would recommend Dr. Lucas. I cannot say the same for his partner Ms. Hoke. I will never return to the clinic because of her attitude when I questioned her recommendations. I was denied life insurance because she advised them that I refused to take a costly (and in my view, not needed) sleep study.. Dr. Lucas is not enough to make me return and if he keeps her, I cannot imagine it will end well.

Patient Concerns are Not Handled. It took a single visit to see Dr. Lucas, and a single visit to deside never to return. He was rude and curt when I expressed my concerns about personal health issues. His assistant Physician, Dr. Sharon Crookshanks-Hoke can also see patients, and is a much nicer person to visit. She is very sweet, polite and caring. So if you do go to this office, ask to see Sharon! But be careful, because Dr. Lucas still has some say in how she handles things.
