great artist. my husband and i have been going to chips for a long time and any tattoo he has done for us has been the best we wont go to anyone else to get our work done he did one for me i gave him the concept of what i wanted done and he scetched it right up and i love it he has done tons of work on my husband and he has no complaints were actually going to get more done this weekend some pretty big pieces actually and hes the only one in the shop now cause nobody can do as good of a job as him he also has really good peices so if you were to ask me where to go to get your next or your first tattoo i will tell you go to chips he does awsome work and you will love it. thanks tina and johnny

down to earth guy, talented artist. I went to this guy with a few tattoo ideas in my head. I'm not an artistic person, just a discerning art appreciator. He listened to all of my details and sketched exactly what i wanted. His true talent is in his color work. He free hands artwork beyond the basic stencil and his colors, blending and shading are great. you can tell he focuses on every line he does which makes you feel assured. I've had some artists who laugh and joke, and act like they're just working on a coloring book.

His prices are usually lower than other shops, although with the popularity of tattoos over recent decades I believe other shops are terribly overpriced considering the actual expenses and overhead. He's been tattooing forever, which makes him experienced and he doesn't gouge you on the cost.

I've had many artists work on me over the years from all over, and chip is still one of my favorites. I haven't lived in roanoke in over 5 years but i'll still go back for his custom work from time to time.

Stay Away!!!. The only place that would be worse is located in a aback alley somewhere. There are numerous better choices in the Roanoke area. I am down right embarrassed that I ever used Chips to save a few dollars when there are plenty of clean tattoo parlors in the Roanoke area that do much better work. I can not believe this place has not been shut down by the health department or whoever inspects tattoo parlors.

AMAZING ARTIST. these people are crazy!!!!! this is the best artist in the roanoke area. i have been going to him for years and so has my husband, daughter, son, and step daughter we all LOVE his work. he is very decently priced hes and AMAZING photographic tattooist. he has great ideas, he specializes in custom work. I WOULD NEVER GO TO ANYONE ELSE

I HAVE 2 TATs N BOYFRIEND HAS 4 DONE BY CHIP N ONLY CHIP.

CHIP DOES WONDERFUL WORK WE WILL NOT GO ANY WHERE ELSE.

HE EVEN DOES GREAT CLEAN UP WORK ON TATS GOT ELSEWHERE I HAVE 4 IN ALL 2 HE DID 2 FOR ME AND 2 I GOT ELSEWHERE HE CLEANED UP 4 ME

I FEEL NOW I GOT 4 FROM CHIP WE ARE GLAD HE IS BACK GOING SOLO A GREAT TAT MAN WITH NO HELP

TO ANY ONE THAT GOT TATS AT CHIPS AND DID NOT HAVE CHIP INKING YOU YOU DID NOT HAVE THE CHIP CUSTOM TAT2.

Go elsewhere!!!!!!!!!. Cancel's appointments after you reserve a day to get your new tattoo. Really hoped my first tattoo would look better than this. Next time I will listen to the advise of locals.

Cheap Chair cost, decent work. Works on appointment for the most part, which is good because at least you know from this time to this time, he is working on you and you alone and not rushing to get to his next client.

I personally prefer my tattooist to have a little bit of an a55hole attitude. If they are too nice, they are probably hurting for business, if a tattooist can afford to have you walk out and know that he will have someone else ready and willing to fill your spot ... that must say something good about their skills with the needle n' ink, ya'know?

All in all, Chip has always done me right, and I've only ever see him do right by his other clients. I have two by him, and a touchup by him on another artists work. He did a bang-up job with my touchup, and I love it. And the other two that he's done are holding up ace. Go check him out ... don't let his attitude scare ya!

Bad service. Chip is bad news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After doing about 1/4 of my tattoo I decided I did not like the work he was doing so I politely asked him for half of my money back ( I paid him up front ) then he proceeded to go off yelling and cussing me and telling me to get the F#$%K out of his shop. Don't say I didn't warn you.
