Frankie Rowland's misses the mark on multiple levels.
I noticed many recent reviews - see urbanspoon - have been 'less than desireable' and I must concur with them based on my experience on Sat June 18th 2011.
At 7:30 we were seated in the rear 'anex' dining room which is through the kitchen and into what must be the recently failed business next door where they have put a service bar and some tables. Clearly this is the area that Franky reserves for all non-anglo-saxon families with screaming children as well as providing a training area for all Roanoke area C- waiters. No oak paneled dining room here...just flaky paint chips for the children I guess.
Anyway...they goofed up the wine service, under cooked my $50 steak twice (yes I know the difference between med-rare and raw), never bothered to bring us ANY BREAD with our 3 course meal, crabcakes consisted of 100% backfin meat, no jumbo lump and in general were not firing on all cylinders for meal that exceeded one hundred dollars per person.
Locals describe Frankie's as the Best Steakhouse in Roanoke however that must be like winning the special olympics of area restaurants...Congratulations folks.
Awesome food, cocktails and service!.
First time for me dining at this establishment. A friend took me and boy was I impressed. Have dined all over the world and states, this ribeye was one of the best I have ever eaten. Very hard to impress this lady! Tony, the bartendar, was a delight and made my experience one which I will remember for a long time. Although Tony was extremely busy he took the time to chat with me about kayaking, a hobby we both enjoy. He prepares martinis which are out of this world and different than the norm!!!!! Thank you so much Tony, and other staff, for making my dining experience such a memorable one.
Best Steakhouse in Roanoke.
Best steakhouse with excellent food, drinks and wine selection. Recommend the wedge salad with meal, as most emnu items are prepared very well. There is a small bar in front that serves generous cocktails and allows smoking, though dining room is smoke free.
