Clean, Professional, Good People. I went to Star City for the first time a few months ago for a tattoo and MAN was it GREAT! I was so nervous but they all made me feel right at home. I have NEVER seen a shop so clean or a staff so pleasant and professional. Roger and Chad are a riot! I had an appointment with Jackie to get my tattoo done. We worked together on the design and she had some awesome ideas. I loved how she took my ideas and just ran with it. She even was able to work with what I wanted to spend. When I showed up she had my artwork ready to go. The tattoo hurt really bad and i was kinda whiny but she talked me through it and even set out her candy jar for me to much on to take my mind off of it. They were all very sweet and I walked away with a great piece of art that is unique and beautiful. Thanks Jackie and thanks Star City!

Awesome tattoos and cute chicks!. Jackie Rabbit has been doing my work for years and I just LOVE her. Im so glad that she finally moved to Roanoke. I was sick of having to drive so far to see her but I would gladly do it for her. She takes my ideas and uses her magic to make beautiful art. She always works with my budget and makes sure I get the most bang for my buck. I even took my mother and my daughter both to get worked on by her and she was so sweet and patient with them. If you want a great tattoo by a great person Jackie is the gal to see and Star City is the place to go.

Viva La Star City!. Ive been around the block when it comes to getting tattooed. Ive been tattooed by a lot of people at many shops...sometimes good sometimes bad...but Star City is by far the best Ive seen. I had a few duds when I went in but both Roger and Jackie were able to do some AMAZING cover ups and fix ups as well as some GREAT new stuff. They take their time to sit down with you and really get inside your head to give you the most beautiful and creative pieces of art. Every time I go there I feel like Im coming home. They are so friendly and helpful. They have helped me love my body again.

THE BEST. At this time in my life i am a 41 yr old female i have been getting ink since i was 15yr old. I have been to a few shops an artist an now I WILL NOT go anywhere else to get my ink i have recommended Jackie to hundreds of people , i drive 3 hours just to get there. i have takin my daughter there to get her first not to mention my whole family , my 58 yr old mother thinks its the best place ever an wont even think of going somewhere else , my husband , 2 sons.2 daughters 2 aunts are all clients an all love the place.We all agree that the shop is super clean(i own a cleaning business so i know clean) and the enviroment an staff are all wonderful . One of the things i like the most is the fact they are very Honest people.so i feel like i can completely TRUST them all. Every bit of work that has been done there on my body is soooo BEAUIFUL an all custom i constantly get compliment people stop me to ask where i got it done an i proudly say Star City Tattoo an give the number !!! So if you are thinking about getting ink head to Star City you will love them

Regrets.. When I called Star City, I was NOT informed by Chad that an ID was required to be tattooed. I put a $50.00 deposit on a credit card in order to set an appt. with Jackie. It is my understanding deposits are to protect from NO SHOWS.

We indeed arrived for our appts. Drove 2 hrs and arrived at the appt on time. Upon arrival, I was THEN informed an ID was needed for ALL tattoos - 18 year old daughter did not bring her driver's license. They refused to do the tattoo - even though she was with me (her mother) and I had my own ID (AND she was 18. Trust me. Turned 18 on Dec. 8, 2011)

... DID A LIL RESEARCH WHEN I GOT HOME --

State Of Virginia § 18.2-371.3. Tattooing minors. No person shall tattoo a person less than eighteen years of age, knowing or having reason to believe such person is less than eighteen years of age except (i) in the presence of the person's parent or guardian, or (ii) when done by or under the supervision of a medical doctor, registered nurse or other medical services personnel licensed pursuant to Title 54.1 in the performance of their duties.

The staff treated us with distrust and borderline anger. To add insult to injury -- after refusing us service, they stole the $50 deposit for our appoinment!

Of course, I will be disputing that charge with my credit card company.

RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The staff is unethical, rude, angry and there is a definite negative aura about the place.

Headed on over to another tattoo shop just down the road a bit. Both girls got their LOVELY first tattoos - the location was clean and professional, the staff respectful AND friendly ... AND THEY ACTUALLY KNOW VIRGINIA LAW! Plus, the girls were SO relieved their first tattoo experience was NOT with Star City - having that negative experience attached to their first tattoo memory would have definitely been scarring!

Awesome!. So, when I got my lip done at Star city, I was nervous as of being new to the whole peircing ish and wasn't too sure about the place. I went place to place gettin turned down because of my age. I was just about to turn 16 and couldn't find any place that would do it! The staff was awesome and friendly. A Friday night I believe, it was so fast that we got in! They were so nice to us and it was so quick! The service we got was amazing and I'm not too sure what his name was but he was so kind and he knew what he was doing... He talked to me about gauges, telling me everything I wanted to know. The experience was awesome and I am deff. getting my other peircings there! :)

Worst Experiance With Tattoo Artists I've Ever Had. I went to Star City last night to get what would have been my 25th tattoo. I've been to every other tattoo parlor in the Roanoke valley and have never had an experience like this one. The new tattoo apprentice Jacki was the one who offered her help first. I explained the tattoo that I wanted and she refused to do it!! It is a very sentimental tattoo to me and I was extremely displeased with the way she acted toward me. I will never go there again. I would think that any respectable tattoo artist would realize that your doing the artwork on the OTHER PERSONS BODY!! I do not mind that she turned down the work. Hey it's her losing the business not me. But to tell someone that the tattoo that they wanted was"Stupid" and"It wouldn't turn out right" that is just an insult and very hurtful. As I said I have had 24 different tattoos and all of them are extremely tasteful and I have never had anyone tell me what to put on my body. Star City really should rethink who they are apprenticing. Maybe if they got someone with a little more people skills and someone who is a little more friendly than they will get more business!!

Piercing. I have multiple piercings and am no stranger to piercings. Rob did a big project for me and it was PERFECT, and it looks fantastic. The place is very clean and the staff takes time to explain and take care of you. I was extremely impressed. I won't go anywhere else in Roanoke.Rob is has worked with some of the best Piercers and Trained with FAKIR MUSAFAR.

VERY VERY CLEAN!!!. I must say that I have been in alot of studios being from California, I have seen it all! I'm a 43 old mother of two and a nurse at carilion and the staff at Star city is the best around the not only are the people clean but the studio is very clean and thats the way it needs to be.!!

Worst Tatoo I Have. I went to Star City Tatoos on Friday nite 5/08/2009 to get my fourth tatoo and it was the worst experience of my life!!! The tatoo I wanted was a beautiful tatoo but turned out to look like a third grader colored on my neck and when I called back on Sat to talk to Roger he was a total @$#@ I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!!!! Now I have to spend the same as I paid to get this fixed by a real tatto artist!!!!!!
