My wife and I have used doctor Schmidt for several years. I have continuing problems with kidney stones. He's even had to "blast" several for me. My wife had Bladder Cancer and he removed them successfully. He's very caring and knows his stuff. We highly recommend him to anyone.
Pros: He's located in the Lewis-Gale Hospital, so it's very convenient for Xrays and such.
Cons: none

Dr. Schmidt has treated me several times for kidney stones and the severe pain and the need for surgery cause me to hope never to return but he is the finest, most compassionate, capable, and caring doctor I have ever had! I love him and would recommend anyone to him for help.
Pros: The kindest and most caring doctor on the planet
Cons: from Bedford County to Lewis Gale, staff - not so much

dr schmidt is a real surgeon who does surgery other docs shy away from-he fitted me in for surgery several times and helped me out when i moved to maryland and had trouble with new docs--great sense of humor-nothing like a laugh when you're really sick
